Intellectual property and cultural public information

The general structure of the website, as well as the data bases are the exclusive property of the First World War Centenary Partnership Program. Any reproduction, representation either full or partial, use, adaptation, or any provision of or modification to these items by whatever process, or by whoever or whatever means (notably by selling, marketing, renting, etc.) without the authorisation of the Centenary Partnership Program, or any authors that there may be or their beneficiaries is strictly prohibited and constitutes an offence of infringement under the code of intellectual property.

The scientific, cultural and pedagogical content (texts, sound, audio-visual and multimedia documents, without this list being exhaustive) as well as the iconographic and photographic reproductions indicated in this site with a signature or a copyright © are protected by intellectual property rights.
Among this public cultural information, under the terms of article 11 of law no. 78-753 of 17 July 1978 the photographs and texts may only be reused under the conditions set out below :

  • The credited photographs © Mission du Centenaire de la Première Guerre mondiale are the exclusive property of the First World War Centenary Partnership Program and are used by the Centenary Partnership Program with the authorisation of their authors or beneficiaries. The photographs which contain another credit are the exclusive property of the institutions or people mentioned in this credit;
  • The First World War Centenary Partnership Program is the transferee of the scientific texts published on its Internet site. Any of these texts may be freely re-used, on the condition that these texts are not altered, that their meaning is not distorted, and that the sources and the date when they were last updated are mentioned. Any reuse for commercial purposes is prohibited.

The trademarks of the First World War Centenary Partnership Program and of its partners, as well as the logos featuring on the site, are trademarks which are registered with the INPI and are, in this respect, protected by the law on industrial property.

Any reproduction either full or partial of these trademarks and/or of these logos carried out using components from the site without the authorisation of their owners is strictly prohibited and constitutes an offence of infringement under the intellectual property code.
Public administrative information

The informational and programming content of this site is public administrative information as defined by article 10 of the law no. 78-753 of 17 July 1978. This information may be freely reused, on the condition that it is not altered, that its meaning is not distorted, and that the sources and the date when it was last updated are mentioned.

No transfer of property of the public administrative information may be made in favour of the re-user. This re-user enjoys a personal and non-exclusive right of re-use of this public administrative information. Any person reusing public information in violation of the abovementioned requirements is liable to a fine from the commission for access to the administrative documents.

Cookies

The user is informed that when he or she is visiting the site a cookie may install itself automatically on his or her browser software. The cookie is a small piece of data which although it does not allow users to be identified, is used for recording information relating to the user’s visit to the site. The First World War Centenary Partnership Program web site authorises the introduction of a hyper textual link pointing towards its content as long as it does not create any confusion regarding the source of the services and/or contents produced and/or held by the Centenary Partnership Program subject to :

  • It not using the ("deep linking") technique, which is to say that the pages on the website www.centenaire.org must not be intertwined within the pages of another site, but must be accessible by opening a window;
  • It mentioning the source which using a hyper textual link will point directly to the content sought.

The information used may only be done so for personal, associative or professional purposes; any use for commercial or advertising purposes is not allowed. This authorisation does not apply to websites which distribute information of a controversial, pornographic, xenophobic nature, or which more generally may offend the wider public; and to websites which are harmful to the material or moral interests of the First World War Centenary Partnership Program.

Responsibility

The www.centenaire.org  website has numerous links to other sites, mostly official sites (institutions, public organisations, etc.) but also to a number of association or partner company websites. These web pages, the addresses of which are regularly checked, are not part of the official and public website www.centenaire.org.

The First World War Centenary Partnership Program may not be held responsible for the contents of the said other sites, and may not be held responsible for any resulting harm or prejudice. The links to other sites are provided to users solely for their convenience.
